My Story

In late September 2023, my mum was rushed into hospital after a GP appointment, after feeling out of breath and slightly tired. With A&E keeping my mum in hospital for four days, they had discovered my mum's heart rate was extremely low, dropping down to 17 BPM. Unsure of what may be the issue, or what could have possibly caused this, A&E decided on her fourth consecutive day to fit my mum a pacemaker, as her heartbeat was not going back to a normal/healthy pace, and was in fact dropping.

At the time, my mum was frustrated as she has always kept fit and healthy, and she couldn't understand why this had happened to her so suddenly - it took her some time to process that her heart was dependent on it's pacemaker.

My mum, myself, and the rest of my family were oblivious that her tiredness would result to something so serious. We felt uneducated and unaware of the symptoms/signs of heart health issues.

After realising the power of a pacemaker, and that my mum's pacemaker is the gift that keeps my mum here as her happy and amazing self, I felt urged to act for such a great charity.

On the 26th May 2024, I will be running the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run (half marathon), with the aim to spread awareness and educate others on heart health, as well as raising greatly needed funds. All money raised will be going directly to the BHF, which will contribute to the improvement of pacemakers, the use of defibrillators in British ambulances, and making heart failure easier to diagnose.

Heart and circulatory diseases still kill 1 in 4 people in the UK, so please donate if you can to help an amazing cause.

Thank you.
